The ‘Fractal Scape’ Lagos experimental videos explores the mega city by expanding how it is understood and consumed, and by inventing a new visual landscape that gives an insight to the socio-cultural topography of the city. This is achieved through replicating an ordinary Lagos scenario to create an audiovisual narrative that is simple and elemental yet possessing an abstract quality, an appropriate description of the chaotic city.
In this process the experimental video attempts to showcase the complex and duplicitous nature of Lagos, a city navigable only via multiple points of entry and departure. The ‘Fractal Scape’ experimentation revisits the culture of abstract paintings of Lagos, but through time-based media of video and sound.
