| “This is not Lagos V1.0” [Conversations | Texts | Soundscapes] explores issues related to immigrant experience in relation to displacement and emplacement, and understandings of cultural, racial, political and economic identity in a globalizing world. The installation is based audio recordings of conversations with Africans living in Japan, and also with the Japanese people, on questions related to migration, identity, integration, perceptions, and also the role of the global media in structuring these perceptions. The installation is complemented with streaming soundscapes and impromptu written texts from the Japanese public. |
